Established in 1977, the trust is entirely supported by donations and memorializes the work of David Sheldrick, a renowned naturalist who served as the founder warden of the Tsavo East National Park in south-eastern Kenya from 1948 to 1976.

The Giraffe Center was first opened in response to the endangered status of the Rothschild giraffe, the population of which had declined, reaching a low of 130 animals in the wild as a result of agricultural practices in their native habitat. After visiting the giraffe center, we will go for lunch at Tamabo restaurant. After lunch, we will proceed to the Bomasa of Kenya.

Bomas cultural center is a homestead reflecting Kenya’s cocktail of cultures that have been faithfully re-created for visitors to see traditional village life. After the Boma cultural visit, we will go for our dinner at the Carnivore restaurant.

Carnivore restaurant is an international garden eating arena that offers beef menu varieties imaginable including four choices of wild game meat which are roasted under massive heat chimney that dominates the entrance of the restaurant. Alternating between slurping up trunksful of water and squirting them into their mouths or over their backs to cool off, the sense of enjoyment they feel in this is almost palpable.
