Climb the iconic Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route and uncover its rugged secrets, then witness one of the most famous wildlife areas on Earth in the Serengeti National Park. We will begin our world-class trek from the Londorossi Gate, before attaching ourselves to the Lemosho trailhead. Here we’ll hike through dense forest on winding trails; we’ll continue ascending via several streams until Shira 1 Camp.
Next up is Lava Tower, a beautiful, tall volcanic rock formation, before descending through the curious Senecio Forest with its captivating trees. We then pass the Great Barranco Wall, crossing a collection of hills and valleys until reaching the Karanga Valley. We then connect with the Mweka Trail and follow some rocky sections, opening up for your incredible views of both the summits of Mawenzi and Kibo. We’ll push onwards towards Uhuru Peak, which will be the most challenging point along our whole journey. Views are out of this world, while you stand at the top of Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in all of Africa.
Our descent is made up of a steep and rocky terrain, while we head towards the Mweka Gate to exit the mountains. The next day after summit day, we’ll explore Tarangire National Park, well known for its huge collection of baobab trees and mammal population, especially elephants. Afterwards, we’ll head to the magnificent Ngorongoro crater, one of most densely populated African wildlife areas, and home to 30,000 animals including the black rhino, zebra, buffalo, hippo, lions, hyenas, cheetahs and many more. Barranco Camp
Barranco Camp is the third pitstop along the Machame Route climbing up Mount Kilimanjaro. This area of the mountain is semi-desert and the camp is set in a valley close to the Great Barranco Wall.
Kikelewa Cave Camp
Situated along the Rongai Route at an elevation of 3,679 meters above mean sea level, Kikelewa Cave Camp is the second stop at the lower end of lobelia & giant groundsel zone. Offering wonderful views Kikelewa Cave Camp is a good place for overnight rest & dinner. Water can also be found here in a stream flowing right below the cave.
