Namibia Bird Watching Safari Itinerary. Namibia Bird Watching Safari Itinerary is an essential Namibia birding departure takes in the key birding areas of this arid wonderland to try target as many of the country endemics and sub-region near-endemics as possible whilst birding in some of the most dramatic, wildlife-filled landscapes on the African continent. On this special birding tour, we will visit some of the best birding hotspots in Namibia. The birding tour will cover most of central Namibia and we will focus on finding the endemics and near-endemic birds. Our Namibia Bird Watching Safari Itinerary tour starts in the capital, Windhoek and from there we continue through the Namib Desert and the coastal towns of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund which are known for the high concentration of waders. Along the coast we will look for Dune Lark, Namibia’s endemic. Birdwatching in Namibia is equally excellent; despite the country having only one true endemic it has a great many near-endemics shared with either South Africa, Botswana, or Angola. The dry nature of the country makes for very easy birding, and Namibia is a long-time favorite among our clients and guides alike! Over 340 local, migratory and wetland bird species flock to the region, including droves of candy-floss colored flamingos, attracted to the brimming salt pan, and the rainbow bee-eater, which often hitches a ride on the back of Africa’s heaviest flying bird, the grand kori bustard. Birders can look to ground level to find the world’s largest bird, the ostrich, proudly strutting around or look deep into the bright sky to catch a glimpse of the powerful and agile bateleur eagle as it swoops by, ruler of the skies.18 Days Namibia Bird Watching Safari Itinerary
